Dr Johanna Budwig Foundation

Dr. Johanna Budwig (1908-2003), who was nominated for the Nobel Prize Medicine on seven occasions, was the first scientist to succeed in isolating the type of omega-3 fatty acids known as alpha-linolenic acids. She also discovered the damage caused by trans-fats. Many of her predictions have since been proven correct: omega-3 fatty acids help against diseases such as diabetes, blocked arteries and depression.

The purpose of the Dr. Johanna Budwig foundation is to ensure that independent research into omega-3 fatty acid continues. The foundation has been greatly supported by Johanna Budwig’s nephew, Dr. Armin Grunewald, who has been promoting omega-3 fatty acid research for many years.
